Organic Rose Petal Salt

Nini’s organic rose garden on her property Elk Creek Farm in East Meredith, NY provides aromatic petals for her tea blends as well as her natural beauty products such as the rose toner, soap, perfume, and a variety of herbal elixirs based on roses. 

Every June as the garden gifts her aromatic roses she also creates an ever changing and expanding collection of spices—finishing salts and sugars using the rose petals.

Nini makes this salt using the (wet) method: that is she uses fresh rose petals, adds Himalayan salt and adds it to a cuisinart—pulses for a few minutes and lays them out in parchment sheets to dry in the sun. 

The result is an aromatic rose pink finishing salt that can be used in so many creative culinary ways: this salt is a wonderful addition to any savory vegetarian or meat dish and can also be used to rim summer cocktails. 

A delight for all the senses, this rose-based salt makes a great hostess gifts as well. Enjoy !
